7.22.09: Thursday lunch: How does an octopus go to war?

Well armed!

Especially if he’s eaten a hearty lunch of Togo’s sandwiches, antipasto and fruit salad! Yaaar! Tomorrow at noon, in the small (!!) conference room.

Louis the Octopus loooooooves his Mr. Potato Head!

7.8.09: Thursday lunch: Blast from the past!

Tomorrow we’ll chow down on good ol’ La Parilla. Reacquaint yourself with the grilled chicken, pinto beans, rice, tostones, quesadillas, chips and salsa. Say HELLO to the new addition: churros for dessert! You know where (the large conf room); you know when (noonish).

6.24.09: Lunch Tomorrow!

Pasta pasta pasta! Pasta Pomodoro, to be exact! The menu includes penne with meat balls, tortellini in cream sauce, whole wheat pasta with chicken, caprese salad, and garlic bread. Noon tomorrow, as always, in the large conference room.

Behold, the world’s LARGEST tree house:

Friday, February 26, 2010

6.18.09: Pluto(s): the (former) planet, the dog, the food service establishment

PLUTO. Space mass. Cartoon sidekick. Restaurant. Caterer. Deliverer of food to the large conference room tomorrow around noon.

Purveyor of meaty sandwiches, spinachy and greeny salads, hummusy and cheesy dip and pita bread. Butt-end of endless jokes. Pluto.

6.4.09: Tomorrow is Thursday, and that means LUNCH!

[Ed note: Friday lunch goes Thursday, and Thursday Lunch Is... is for real!]

It’s a crazy week! Cold weather, thunderstorms and heavy rain, and lunch on Thursday?! I know! The universe has gone topsy-turvy! Fortunately, we’ve got a bit of a simple, comforting lunch coming tomorrow: two kinds of soup and assorted sandwiches, all from Boudin. There will be tomato soup and beef chili, and a bunch of sandwiches, and chips! Noon, large conference room, be there.

Sadly, Boudin does not yet make the Wall-E sandwich:

Yum!

5.29.09: Friday lunch: less than 18 hours away!

We’re having something new tomorrow (not that everything hasn’t been new so far): Chinese cuisine, courtesy of Peking Restaurant! There will be noodles, and tofu, and rice, and egg rolls, and several different kinds of meat! Dig in tomorrow around NOON.

There’s always enough space for Chinese food!

5.22.09: Friday lunch Phanatics!

Per Gareth’s request…

Theo’s Philly Cheesesteaks (in several different permutations), curly fries, and chips! Delightfully, and greasily, making its way to you tomorrow around noon in the large conference room. Belch!

5.15.09: Easy, cheesy, Friday lunch

Expect tasty things tomorrow: in honor of Quince de Mayo, we’ll have a Mexican spread from El Faro. Yummy snarfables will include various types of burritos and quesadillas, rice, beans, chips, guacamole, pico de gallo, and, of course, hot sauce! Come ready and hungry to the large conf room around noon (or just wait for me to yell, LUNCH!).

There will be no kittenz on the menu. Sorry.

5.8.09: Friday lunch is enTHAIcing!

You’re all dying to know! WELL--tomorrow will be quite the smorgasbord of appethaizing Thai cuisine courtesy of Osha Thai. The menu includes: veggie crispy rolls, chicken satay, country chicken, pad thai and volcanic beef. Oh, and rice.

This lunch is BYOTITOC: bring your own thai iced tea or coffee.

Yum!

5.1.09: When put to the popular vote, Friday lunch became...

…Pizza Orgasmica! We’ll be having the Orgasmica, the Endless Summer, the Doggie Style, the Hula Hula, and a lovely cheese, as well as their house salad (for a bit of fiber). Look for it in the conf room around noon tomorrow.

And check out the pizzas now available in Japan! Sadly, Orgasmica doesn’t offer a pigs in a blanket topping option.

4.24.09: Friday, still, really?

After the extreme heat of earlier this week, we thought, let’s have something nice and easy on Friday. Something not too heavy. Something like… assorted sandwiches, antipasto, fruit and cookies, provided by Togo’s. Look for it in the large conference room, ‘round about 12pm tomorrow.

The pig may look familiar, but these other guys? Totally new! Enjoy!

4.17.09: still Fridays (first Hawaiian)

For tomorrow’s lunch, we will celebrate the coming weekend by digging a large pit in the conference room and roasting a whole pig for several hours, then feasting until we burst.

Except we’d get in lots of trouble with the building management.

So instead, we’ll chow down on barbecued beef, chicken katsu, kalua pig, green salad, macaroni salad and rice from daKine’s Hawaiian barbeque! Gather in the conference room tomorrow around noon for a feast straight from the islands, featuring:

Also, if you’ve made it this far down, let Vincent Price and his beans help you get in the mood for Hawai’i: http://www.blinkx.com/video/reheat-my-beans/qqwcRE5X1CCggoDbHppY-g

Enjoy!

4.10.09: When it was still Friday Lunch

What the Eff? Thursday Lunch?

Part of my day job includes planning and executing catered lunch for our office every Thursday. In our old office (and at the beginning of our time in this new office), lunch was every Friday. But, that left us with a bunch of leftovers no one would eat come Monday. I (having been assigned this duty) decided that we'd do lunch Thursday instead. People bitched and moaned at first (people always bitch and moan), but have settled down and, I think, enjoy getting a free lunch twice a week, depending on the amount of leftovers.

Anyway, the guy who used to send the lunch emails would always just say, for example, "pasta." "Chinese." "Japanese." You get the idea. I jazz them up, try to get everyone excited, or some kind of reaction.

Check 'em out.
